34″ x 20″
This textile artwork was inspired by views of the Southern Gulf Islands in British Columbia.
This piece was created by starting with an original silk painting . A quilt ’sandwich’ was made by then layering the painting over batting and a silk print backing. Free motion stitching and machine embroidery were used to join the layers to create texture and depth. The free motion stitching uses the sewing machine as a drawing tool to create line and pattern. Binding and a hanging sleeve make this textile art ready for display.
